"If we wish to serve God and love our neighbor well, we must manifest our joy in the service we render to Him and them. Let us open wide our hearts. It is joy which invites us. Press forward and fear nothing." -St. Katharine Drexel

2018 Annual Appeal

Our Patron Saint

St. Katharine Drexel is best known as the patron saint of racial justice and of philanthropists. Believing that all people should have access to education, and that education opens doors to opportunity, she founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and endowed schools and churches for African Americans and Native Americans in the South and Western United States. Her legacy of justice, education and philanthropy guide our school mission forward.

The Mission of St. Katharine Drexel Academy

St. Katharine Drexel Academy develops caring hearts and open minds to reach their full potential as life-long learners and servant leaders, within a Christ-centered, diverse Catholic community.

St. Katharine Drexel Academy Vision Statement

Forming Christ-like leaders who will use their unique gifts and talents to change the world.

A New Financial Model to Serve Community Needs

Affordable Catholic education at St. Katharine Drexel Academy is attainable with your annual contribution. Knowing that most families struggle to afford the growing costs of tuition, SKDA introduces a Needs-Based Tuition Model, to make Catholic education affordable for all who choose to enroll their children in our personalized, faith-based program. Families seeking financial assistance make one online application for needs-based tuition assistance. Analytical metrics are then used to determine the amount of assistance needed by each family who commits to pay their fair share.

Please join your friends and neighbors in support of our new, sustainable Catholic elementary school by giving generously to our Annual Fund. St. Katharine Drexel Academy opens August 2018. Our goal is to enroll 200 students in Transitional Kindergarten – Grade 8 by June 30.

A Plan to Thrive

Centrally located in the College Area / El Cerrito Neighborhood of San Diego, on the grounds of Blessed Sacrament Church, SKDA is positioned to thrive within a growing community of young families. Valued for its diversity and affordability, SKDA opens in 2018-19 rooted in traditional Catholic values and working in partnership with parents so all students succeed. SKDA is Christ-centered, student-focused, and collaboratively led to provide the best Catholic educational experience possible in today’s competitive environment.  Our forward thinking Catholic school is guided by traditional Catholic values. Weekly school mass unites our community of faith. All students and staff model Christ-like leadership through daily interactions. SKDA provides personalized learning opportunities so all students grow and thrive to meet their full potential. SKDA is committed to small class sizes, enabling a qualified and caring staff of trained Catholic educators to employ 21st century technology and apply researched methods to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet the evolving needs of each student.

St. Katharine Drexel Academy develops caring hearts and open minds to reach their full potential as life-long learners and servant leaders. We capitalize on maximum student growth by building and supporting healthy, respectful relationships between school and home. We promise to meet each student and family where they are and take them as far as they may grow within each school year.

We Need Your Help to Achieve Our Goals – Please Give to Our Annual Fund

Because tuition alone cannot meet the total cost to educate in our competitive economy, SKDA offers families who are committed to providing their children the highest quality Catholic education possible a Needs-Based Tuition Scale.

Through generous support from donors like you, St. Katharine Drexel Academy will lead as an innovative and sustainable 21st century Catholic elementary school. Our future depends on our partnership with friends and supporters like you. THANK YOU for your generous support!
